Craft comeback

After yesterdays meltdown in the morning, I went down to the kitchen and made the best chocolate cupcakes I've baked in a while. Chocolate with buttercream frosting and dipped in green sprinkles. A melt in your mouth delicious morsel. They came out so tender that it made up for all of the craziness with the teeny, tiny quilt blocks.
So I went upstairs again and assembled a 'hello kitty' mug that will go off in a box soon. Really cute and easy to stitch up.
I finished that chick and her egg shell. It's cute but won't be knitted again.
Then I pressed all of the red work blocks so I could put them away neatly and get them organized. I counted how many I had stitched and looked at all I had left to do. Mistake. I've only done 7 and there are 32 total to stitch. At least they are all ready, traced and waiting in their box. I keep thinking the mantra 'it will be beautiful when it's finished, it will be worth the work'.
To make up for the teeny, tiny block mishap, which I couldn't face working on, I pulled out another project that had recently made it's appearance from the back of the closet. A paper pieced quilt which had all of the blocks sewn and almost all of them sewn together. Two seams stitched and it was time to pull off all of the backing tissue. Magpie, my cat loved that as tissue flew around the room and at my feet. I kept picking it up but it just went everywhere. This morning I gave it a good press and looked in the box for all of the other fabrics that went with it. It's going to have a 1 inch red border around the edge to punch it up, then a 4 inch border of the same black color. Deep at the bottom of the box is enough backing fabric, a white with swirls of black. I even had the plain black for the binding.
I'm going to finish the borders and then have it machine quilted. It's a twin size quilt that is not my favorite colors but has my sense of color. I gravitate to two color, classic, bold quilts. We'll see how it goes but it's out of the closet now.
